Pretty sure I didn’t pull this strip off like I intended. Should’ve watched some Tom & Jerry episodes with the animated chalk board scenes.
And, of course, don’t forget about my upcoming graphic novel. Swing by the site and get a glimpse:

Hey Brian –
I love what you’re doing with the strip; love your art too, mate…keep up the great work!

Thanks man. I just found your site the other day. Awesome style! Do you do any cartoons using the style in your header?

Thanks for the kind words, mate. As for the style used in my header, I usually use that for illustration work more than cartoons but I have been developing a strip concept using that style…don’t know how well it would work though.

Reminds me a lot of Ronald Searle. I’d love to see how it comes out.

Oh yeah, Searle was/is one of my biggest influences, a true cartoon genius;in fact that’s why I use the pen name SURLY for my cartoon work, because early on lots of people used to say my work looked very SEARLY…get it SEARLY-SURLY? Yeah I know, GROAN! It’s an awful pun but it amused my tiny mind. If I get this strip drawn up and looking anywhere near good I will gladly let you see it. I’m seriously considering doing my own web comic strip and this may be the one I use for that.

Oh that’s cool! I actually just bought versions of Great Expectations and Oliver Twist illustrated by Searle. I’d love to see the strip. That would be such a standout style for a webcomic.
