With help from animal lovers around the country, and New York City woman hopes to create the world's largest ball made of lashes. Nikki Moustaki, a freelance writer began the Dogfession Leash Ball project in September to raise awareness of shelter dogs. The first leash and collar used in the 2-pound ball are from Moustaki's deceased mixed breed, Lulu Belle, a stray she found wandering on a highway. The project is a labor of love but has its drawbacks. "I'm allergic to it," Moustaki says with a laugh. The completed ball will go to the ASPCA in New York City, where it will be dismantled , and leashes and collars will be donated to shelter dogs.
