DeD in Bizarro?

Monday, October 1st, 2007

Today’s Bizarro looks to have a DeD reference. Or could just be me hoping it is. Either way this is pretty funny:

If a tree falls…

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Okay, bad analogy. But hey, one of my favorite comics, “Tree”, is ending. This one had such a funny premise. At first I thought it would be just a gimmick. Not so. This strip had a lot of what you strive for as a cartoonist: characters that jumped to life and make you laugh. My favorite kind of comic is one where as you read it, the panel lines fade and everything seems to play out like your favorite sitcom. Tree was a great show.

That said, every cartoonist has to deal with killing their darlings. It’s hard. It’s evolution for cartoonists. Judging by “Tree”, I ‘m very excited to see what Scott comes up with next.

My Agent’s New Site

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I completely forgot to post on this when it launched. My agent has a new website. You’ll find a whole lot of great books just by browsing her client list. And of course there will be a sneak peek of “Nighty Night Sleepy Sleeps” on there soon.

Today’s Cul De Sac comic

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

If you don’t have this in your paper, you have to check it out online. This is now one of my favorite comic strips (well that and the one with the dog and the baby). Today’s Sunday was just awesome:

Cul de Sac, comics, editorial cartoons, email comics, political cartoons

More Inspiration

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Thought I’d share another one of my sources of inpsiration. Florian Satzinger is a character designer. Or another title would be “Freakin’ Unreal Artist”. I’m always checking out his new drawings on his blog. Although I have yet to figure out where I can see any of his work in print or animated.
