I’ve always wondered how they could prove that, and why we take their word for it, and who “they” are.

I read just recently that they can’t actually prove it, and that’s it’s actually more than likely NOT true. There are quintillions of snowflakes in any given snowfall, and the chance that no two are alike is so small as to be the same as zero.
